OFBJP Australia on Sunday launched its fourth state chapter in South Australia in an event participated by large number of community members and leaders.
Organised in Goodwood Community Centre, it was a well attended event with over 80 current and potential members attending the launch including representation from most Indian community groups as well as Australia India Business Council (AIBC) and South Australia India Advisory Council (SAIAC). The presence of the members from OFBJP New South Wales and Victoria chapter added a great enthusiasm and networking opportunity to SA chapter.
The speeches were focused and specific with the SA Chapter co-ordinator Chirag Trivedi welcoming everyone and committing the South Australian chapter to progressing the objectives of OFBJP and work with the South Australian Government in promoting its SA India engagement strategy .
South Australia India Engagement Strategy is a 30 years strategy to develop South Australian relations in Art, culture, science, education, research and business with India.
OFBJP Australia National President, Mr. Balesh Singh Dhankhar presented the objectives of the OFBJP Australian and Mr. Rahul Jethi, OFBJP Australia National Convenor, re-iterated that the Australian Chapter is dedicated to working towards projecting a positive and correct image of India and its people in the Australian and foreign media.
Both of them emphasized that OFBJP will promote the philosophy of “Integral Humanism”, a core objective of the organization with a call to create a think tank of mature, experienced and intelligent individuals of Indian origin in order to utilize their expertise and wisdom to generate new ideas which could be beneficial for the Indian community in Australia and the people of India.
Dr Adrian Vicary, President of the Australia India Business Council (AIBC), recalled his time with AIBC and its commitment to engaging with the Indian Diaspora in South Australia at both a cultural and business level.He said that AIBC and South Australia India Advisory Committee were both friends of India and that the time was now opportune to further this relationship to the next level. He emphasized that OFBJP could play an important role in this developing relationship as all the OFBJP office bearer possessed excellent Industrial and Political networking in India.
The executive committee of OFBJP with other dedicated members laid the foundation of OFBJP Australia. Shri Balesh Singh’s earnest efforts to strengthen the Indian community in Australia are bringing fruition as OFBJP Australia is a rapidly expanding organisation with its chapters having opened in Victoria and Queensland and other parts of Australia.
OFBJP SA has already been active in the community, having run a massive telemarketing campaign during the last Indian election. The launch is a culmination of their work over the last 12 months.
Chirag Trivedi, on the occasion, informed the new signature campaign that the SA chapter is initiating on the issue of increasing number of rape and violence against women in the state of Uttar Pradesh in India. This is aimed to register the deep emotion of anger and pain on the issue among Indian-Diaspora in Australia and provide full support to BJP’s government to take strongest action to stop this menace.
